RT1's Professional Educational Program:
Ray Arana's pilot program in Port au Prince trains young Haitians to become accomplished builders. Classes are held at 6 am five days a week and cover among other things, team work, tool function and safe usage, principles and techniques of frame and masonry construction, reinforcing steel placement, from foundation to roofing, plan reading, job safety.
Classes are taught in English, translated in Creole or French by selected participants and English language competency is further developed with communicative follow-up activities.
Workers are hired by Relief Team One or other organizations to work on construction projects where they perfect their skills under Ray's supervision to meet anti-hurricane and anti-seismic standards providing them with sustainable marketable skills.
